Vinemount Estates is situated atop the world famous Niagara Escarpment overlooking Lake Ontario. We are located within the Niagara wine region's, Vinemount Ridge appellation area.  Our cold climate grapes are blessed to be growing in a unique micro-climate, facilitated by the interaction of the Niagara Escarpment and Lake Ontario.

Seyval Blanc

Seyval Blanc is a versatile grape that can be made into a number of different many different wine styles: Very fruity, semi-dry Germanic type whites; or Sauvignon Blanc-style wines that are dry with crisp fruit, grassy or herbal notes.

Our Ontario grown Seyval Blanc produces a refreshing medium bodies white wine with crisp notes of acidity and a lasting finish.  Barrel fermented Seyval assumes an oak complexity similar to Chardonnay, while blended with Thompson Seedless or Muscato allows for a very refined and balanced wine with flavours and aromas of citrus fruits.

Vidal Blanc

Vidal Blanc is a very versatile grape allowing for the production of a wide variety of wine styles such as dry semi dry and dessert. Vidal offers a very clean floral nose, which includes flavors of pineapple, grapefruit, pears, and orange blossoms. This grape maintains a higher acid profile, prompting some winemakers to allow residual sugars to remain in order to balance with the acid in order that the wines do not taste too tart. Due to its versatility in the cellar, many of our home winemakers and commercial winery partners recognize Vidal Blanc as an excellent base wine which can be blended with other grapes such as Seyval Blanc as well as with California varietals such as Thompson Seedless and Muscato.

DeChaunac

Wines produced from DeChaunac  are a dark to almost inky in color. Despite the dark color, this grape produces a surprisingly light to medium body wine with a nose that is distinctly grassy with varietal flavors of leather, cinnamon and soft chocolate. A very versatile grape, it can also be made into fruity, dry or semi-dry rosé wines.  As a stand alone medium bodied wine, Dechaunac is best enjoyed through barrel aging. Dechaunac wine makers at both home and in a commercial environment appreciate Dechaunac’s flexibility in blending well with other varietals. Blended with  a California Alicante creates a soft red cherry profile, while a blend of California or Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon, results in a smooth blackberry and cinnamon finish.

Marechal Foch

Marechal  Foch is used to make a variety of styles of wine, ranging from a light red wine to intensely dark, inky purple colour wines. Finished wines tend to have higher levels of acidity, with aromas of black fruits, chocolate and vanilla. Darker variants of the wine develop an almost Gamay or Pinot Noir like characteristic.
